The Need for Assistance is Great
“The U.S. Census Bureau reports that there are almost 18 million veterans and 2.1 million active-duty and reserve service members (U.S. Census Bureau, 2020).  “The VA Health Systems Research states that suicide rates among veterans are 57% greater than civilians (VA Health Systems Research, 2024).” Couple these numbers with the fact that 1 in 4 active-duty members show signs of a mental health condition (National Alliance of Mental Illness, 2024) and that approximately there are 4.5 times more suicides than combat deaths in post 9/11 warriors and we see that our military members, veterans and their families are in dire need…
In response to this need HHH has built equine-assisted programing that provides invaluable opportunities for our nation’s heroes to renew hearts, restore relationships, and rebuild lives.
HHH has been cultivating our equine-assisted sessions by focusing on ground activities that will build a partnership between participants and horses. Through interactive exercises with the horses, participants will gain self-confidence, communication, self-awareness, trust, emotional regulation, and find their voice, etcetera. Sessions will create a safe space for participants to learn from and support each other. These skills will translate into stronger bonds and communication skills as well as gain healthy relationships. Horses offer a unique source of comfort and connection.

Introducing the HHH Harvest Program
The HHH Harvest Program is an initiative designed to empower service members, veterans, and first responders- preparing them for a new vocation… This intensive on-site, two-month course offers personal growth for a new professional future. Participants, either two men, two women (or a married couple) will address their individual healing through our equine-assisted sessions, while being professionally trained to become Certified Curriculum Graduates.
Empowering Heroes to Become Healers
Through participation in our HHH equine-assisted sessions and professional training, Harvest graduates gain expertise in barn management, horse care, while becoming equine session leaders or equine handlers. This unique approach allows HHH to empower our heroes while expanding our therapeutic reach. By training 12 individuals per year, the program creates a ripple effect, fostering a network of support within the communities it serves.
Imagine the impact!

Painting the “Donkey-ettes”…

…In the tradition of the Native America Indians, their warriors would paint their ponies with symbols of triumph. Here at HHH, we have our participants paint our donkey-ettes with symbols of personal
loss, which they then wash away. The donkey-ettes love being a canvas of care- especially since they are fed animal crackers during the process…AND they also enjoy their shower afterwards.

The activity has become a favorite with our participants while they embrace such powerful emotional release.

All HHH horses and donkeys are either RESCUES OR DONATED animals with personalities and stories of their own: And now that they have found their “Forever Home” helping Heroes at HHH, you’ll find that as you discover them, you’ll discover YOURSELF.
