Transforming Lives: Hope and Healing at Hillenglade Empowers Heroes
Hope and Healing at Hillenglade (HHH), an outreach of Jennifer O’Neill Ministries Inc. (established in 2004), has served more than 4,000 active-duty military, veterans, first responders and their families through transformative equine-assisted programs. HHH provides a safe, reliable, confidential environment that embraces the amazing therapeutic wonder of horses at The HHH Renewal Center just fifteen minutes from downtown Nashville.
The History of Healing Heroes Through Horses
Equine-assisted therapy provides the hope and healing that helps restore the lives of our brave heroes. This therapeutic approach has a surprisingly long history, stretching back thousands of years to the writings of Hippocrates in 460 BC. More formal development of equine-assisted therapy, as we know it today, began in the 1940s in Europe to assist military members during WWII- and finally made its way to America in the 1960s. Equine-assisted therapy has been proven to effectively aid and reduce symptoms in individuals suffering with mental, physical, and emotional challenges including PTSD. According to the National Institute of Health, participants of equine-assisted programs have reported reduced anxiety and depression symptoms, along with elevated self-esteem and self-awareness, improved daily functioning, communication and trust, in addition to increased overall well-being.
As we all know, especially since Covid, stress-related issues are running rampant among the general population. The truth is, very few in the private sector have side-stepped the on-going destructive aspects of isolation, depression, loss, confusion, anger, failing communication skills and TRUST. Exhibited by our program’s successes over the years, our HHH Curriculum has armed our graduates with the tools necessary to succeed in all aspects of life… It’s time to tackle core issues that holds us back from achieving our BEST – not only for ourselves, but for our loved ones as well. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is NOT exclusive to Military and First Responders. At such a time as this, most of us are grappling with some personal and/or pragmatic questions, while trying to establish solid footing, and morals in light of society’s “New Normal.”
WE CAN HELP!
WELCOME TO HILLENGLADE!!!
